The Dunbar Approach and Methodology
We rely on our relationships and reputation as we continue to partner with industry leaders and other consulting firms. Our team is dedicated to ensuring each project is completed in a timely, cost-efficient manner. The results we produce for each project meet the highest standards for transportation planning, travel forecasting, and technical analysis.
We pride ourselves on strong, effective communication, making us ideal members of team projects with many different stakeholders and decision-makers.
Project Types
Our consulting projects use technical data to analyze, evaluate, and present transportation realities to decision-makers in order for them to understand and make better decisions about how to invest public dollars to improve transportation systems.
We are industry experts who specialize in transportation consulting covering all aspects of the planning process, including:
- travel modeling
- transit forecasting
- mode choice modeling
- New Starts analysis
- alternatives analysis during preliminary planning
- multi-modal transportation planning
- FTA-funded projects
We also work on many regional or corridor, long-range projects that plan for growth over 10-20 years in order to solve and prevent transportation issues.
Key Transportation Planning Examples
Our team has enjoyed working on projects across the United States, often through partnerships with contractors such as WSP, HDR, and CH2M. As part of the planning teams led by these firms, we have advised regional planning agencies, transit authorities, and other transportation leadership organizations.
With the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (now Trinity Metro), we were key consultants in the TEX Rail project, a 27-mile commuter rail line that connects downtown Fort Worth, surrounding areas, and the DFW International Airport, providing transportation alternatives for northwest Tarrant County.
We have been long-time partners with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), contributing to transit system plan updates, a before-and-after study for the Green Line, and a D2 Alternatives Analysis.
Some of our more recent work has been with the LA Metro for their Rail Ridership Forecasting Project, Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project, and development of a Long-Range Transportation Plan.
Lead Consultant Julie Dunbar was also the project manager for the Transportation Research Board's Travel Forecasting Resource, which was developed over the course of nearly 10 years.
